You'll work closely with customers, Sales and Finance to make sound credit decisions, manage risk, drive collections activity and help orders process smoothly. A key part of the role is taking ownership of customer balances, resolving overdue debt and working proactively with customers and internal stakeholders to improve cash flow.

Using credit reports, customer insight and sound judgement, you'll manage exposure, protect cash flow, drive timely collections and support decisions that help customers receive their orders smoothly.

If you’ve built your credit experience in a similar industry and enjoy making decisions that make a real difference, we’d like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Own the collections process, including preparing and issuing periodic customer statements, collecting overdue debt, securing payment commitments, identifying root causes of non-payment and driving actions to improve cash flow and reduce aged debt.
  • Own credit and collections activity for your regions (UK and Benelux), taking responsibility for debtor performance, reducing overdue balances, managing exposure and maintaining appropriate credit limits.
  • Assess customer risk using credit reports, D&B information, customer history and internal risk tools.
  • Make clear credit and order release decisions that balance risk with getting products to customers.
  • Spot risk early by reviewing payment behaviour, overdue balances, upcoming due dates, open orders and customer exposure, taking action before issues escalate.
  • Have confident, proactive conversations with customers, Sales and stakeholders to address overdue debt, payment performance, queries, commitments and next steps.
  • Reconcile customer accounts, identify and resolve allocation discrepancies, partner with Finance to clear unallocated receipts and support the timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Keep accurate records of credit decisions, customer contact and payment history.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years’ Credit Collections experience, including hands-on credit risk ownership in manufacturing/distribution or similarly fast-paced commercial environment.
  • CICM qualification, or working towards this, would be desirable.
  • Experience onboarding customers, reviewing credit information and recommending or setting credit limits.
  • Confidence interpreting credit reports, D&B information and customer financial data.
  • Sound judgement when balancing risk, customer needs and commercial priorities.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, market conditions, company policies and regional requirements.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with customers and internal teams.
  • Experience across different countries or markets would be helpful; Dutch market experience or Dutch language skills would be a plus.
  • SAP and Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel.

Success in this role requires a balance of sound credit judgement and strong collections ownership, ensuring risks are managed while cash is collected effectively and customer relationships remain positive.
