Overview

The Supplier Development Manager is responsible for the development and improvement of key suppliers.  The key responsibility of this role is to use their expertise to identify issues at a supplier site and help drive improvements for key supplier metrics.  They will also be responsible for supporting in multiple commodity areas with supplier research, initial vetting, and driving implementation strategies in conjunction with the Commodity Management Teams.  Operational knowledge of supplier sourcing, supplier manufacturing process, quality procedures, and project management techniques will be key success factors in this role.

Responsibilities

·       Interface with the Commodity Management Team, Tactical Purchasing Team, and  Supplier Quality Team to provide on-site support in identifying and resolving supplier issues and coordinate supplier improvement activities within the specified region

·       Use varied tools (E.g. Six Sigma; Kaizen; Lean etc.) to identify Supplier site potential manufacturing issues and work out corrective action plan and drive the correct active plan at supplier with support from the commodity team.  

·       Assess and develop suppliers from a technological and efficiency standpoint, interfacing with cross-functional team members as required

·       Assist in the development and execution of supplier improvement and development plans as required. 

·       Facilitates gap analysis of current manufacturing capabilities with identified to-be state and works with the commodity management team to close that gap including contingency plans and risk analysis.

·       Support commodity management team with conducting industry and supplier research, supplier pre-vetting and supporting strategy development for key commodity areas. 

·       Support New Product Sourcing (NPS) team with project support for specified region/suppliers

·       Conduct thorough, detailed assessments of suppliers manufacturing processes in order to help identify improvements, as well as develop and validate should-cost modeling on a part level basis 

·       Supports annual supplier contract negotiations

o   Assists in understanding of supplier costs structures

o   Recommends improvement areas to existing terms and conditions

·       Supports supplier technology presentations for engineering

·       Introduces new suppliers to Shure commodity teams when requested and assists in educating Shure engineering about approved suppliers in the region.  Also supports Commodity Management Team with supplier onboarding where applicable

 

Qualifications

  • Supplier management experiences of specialized on-site supplier development
  • Experience to using varied supplier development tools e.g. Kaizen; Six sigma; Lean etc… for supplier development
  • Have experience of varied mechanical commodity products manufacturing processes, cosmetic finishing processes also be included
  • Supplier sourcing experience in varied region
  • Action Orientated - Possesses a high energy level and understands the need for speed and agility in accomplishing tasks within ones area of responsibility.
  • Customer Focus - Exemplifies dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Problem Solving - Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions and minimizes the impact of emotion and personal interest in decision-making.

Project Management – Ability to outline and track issues to major milestones or timelines.

 

  • Experience managing and developing direct reports
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technically related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a technical position in a medium to high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Lean Six Sigma Certifications preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in both electronics and mechanical industries
  • Familiar with ODM / OEM / PBL business relationship is highly desired
  • Competence with MS Office software, MS Excel and MS Access is a plus
  • Understanding of SAP
  • Proven leadership ability and problem-solving skills are necessary
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix organization required
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and project management skills required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quantify/evaluate manufacturing processes and technologies to ensure “best cost” solutions for purchased components and new product cost parameters
  • Familiarity with supply contracts
  • ISM Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M) or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) certification preferred
