This is an amazing opportunity to bring your business acumen and technical leadership to Shure, and play a critical role in leading our strategic efforts to modernize the way we leverage data across our global organization. 

 

In your role as Director, Data Engineering, you will provide technical leadership for Shure’s data strategy. Additionally, you will be responsible for the implementation and support of Shure’s data architecture and data technology applications and work with internal business partners and IT resources to leverage data to solve complex business problems.

 

This role will be hybrid and based in our Niles, IL location. We will also consider remote candidates for this opportunity. 

Responsibilities

  • Plays a key role in the development of data strategies for various groups (business leaders, data scientists, data analysts, and IT) to help shape the future of what data-centric organizations look like
  • Works closely with Shure’s Data Governance team
  • Summarizes and conveys data findings to both a technical and non-technical audience
  • Identifies new opportunities for data and analytics to advance business needs as well as identifying and conveying weaknesses and opportunities to address
  • Provides career development, coaching and technical guidance to a globally located data engineering team
  • Manages vendor relationships that are leveraged for implementation and support deliverables
  • Develops and supports Shure’s data pipelines, application integrations, catalogs, quality, security, lake, warehouses, and visualization technology
  • Designs, creates, deploys, and manages the organization’s data architecture
  • Defines how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed by different data entities and IT systems
  • Remains current with emerging technologies and industry best practices by participating in educational opportunities and professional organizations, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks
  • Guides others on major strategies and methodologies
  • Provides technical project management for projects identified in a multi-year data roadmap
  • Delivers proof-of-concept projects, technical workshops, and support for data projects
  • Evaluates business requirements and works closely with stakeholders to identify key business needs and translate that into data solutions
  • Works with data engineering team members to develop large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines.
  • Works closely with data owners and data stewards on data management activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Technical Science, or related field. Master’s Degree is strongly preferredMinimum of 12 years of wide-ranging experience designing and implementing data solutions
  • Technical expertise in data architecture, schema design, and building a modern data lake and data warehouse for the business teams
  • Proficiency in a modern data architecture leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Expertise leveraging Informatica’s suite of data management applications (data integration, data quality, data cataloging)
  • Development experience with enterprise integration platform applications such as Boomi, Informatica, MuleSoft, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with various data technologies as well as logical and physical data modeling
  • Experience working and influencing multiple, cross-functional teams (business analysts, data analysts, data scientist, and IT) to ensure meaningful data collection or integrations with responsibility for results, including costs and methods
  • Ability to conceive and portray the data big picture and translate data and analysis into actionable insights
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive consensus and influence relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated experience presenting technical solutions to leadership level audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; sound judgment and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Eager to learn and support the business strategy and desire to work on strategic projects
  • Experience in storytelling: i.e., the ability to structure and synthesize within your communication
  • Proven track record of helping business customers/clients establish next generation data products and processes
  • Experience in a fast-paced agile development environment and has an ability to execute against timelines
  • Able to provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies
  • Experience with advising subordinates how to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems
