Overview

Under general supervision of Applications Support, the Applications Support Engineer II provides primary technical product support for advanced Shure products, particularly those requiring software, firmware, and networking configurations.  Provides secondary product technical support for the balance of the Shure product line.  Creates and conducts external training seminars for Shure dealers, sales representatives, end users, and, occasionally, international distribution centers.

Responsibilities

  • Resolves intermediate level and some advanced application and customer application problems, including performing follow-up technical support, by working with Product Development, Product Management, Service, Quality Assurance, and other departments
  • Assists customers with proper product specification and selection as well as explains the operation of complementary audio products (e.g., limiter, equalizer, compressor), i.e., when they should be employed, and how they interface with and affect the performance of Shure products
  • Explains to customers basic acoustical concepts (e.g., reverberation time, early reflections, and absorption coefficient)
  • Provide technical assistance in the design/integration of customer applications relating to complex audio operating systems
  • Researches, writes, and publishes advanced technical applications bulletins, advanced technical training material, and technical “white paper” or educational guides and other technical document related to products
  • Conducts advanced training seminars for associates, sales representatives, dealers, end users, and, occasionally, international distribution centers
  • Prepares and presents advanced demonstrations and applications of Shure product at trade shows, seminars, sales meetings, etc.
  • Provides technical support to sales staff in determining application of Shure products to customer requirements
  • Staffs company exhibits at industry trade shows at the request of the Sales and/or Marketing Communications Departments
  • Develops and suggests product improvements and modifications based on customer requirements
  • Reviews new products for proper use with other products, including performing field tests on new products to gain familiarity and working knowledge
  • Evaluates sound system plans from customers that employ Shure products
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include assisting in the maintenance of department files and sample equipment, and performing other departmental administrative functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Audio, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with a comprehensive knowledge of advanced electronics and basic acoustics and continues developing professional expertise. Sales experience helpful
  • Expert knowledge of Shure products and their applications, especially with related to Earphones/Digital audio/Wireless/ and Bluetooth technology
  • Maintain knowledge of historical Shure product
  • Familiarity with audio-related computer software programs
  • Deep interest in audio, electro/acoustics, system design
  • Understanding of networking, implementation and basic troubleshooting
  • Computer literacy required, drawing programs such as AutoCAD if applicable
  • Able to use professional concepts and apply company policies/procedures to work on problems/issues of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
  • Able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
  • Computer literacy required, word processing; database; spreadsheet; drawing programs
  • Native Japanese language skills or equivent level
  • Verbally Business English skills above TOEIC700
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Superb problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent telephone skills and personality
  • Excellent presentation skills, especially to groups (2 - 500 people)
  • Mechanically and technically minded
  • Organized working methods, most importantly, good follow-up procedures
  • Self-motivated, works well without daily direction
  • Enjoys meeting and dealing with new people and Maintain cooperation with related departments
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Intense desire to learn and keep up to date on technical matters
  • Extensive domestic/international travel (8 - 12 weeks per year)
  • Oversea working experience an asset as global mindset
