In your role as Senior Engineer, IT Cloud (AWS) you will participate in the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of AWS-based solutions balancing security with business outcomes. You will be responsible for the architecture and delivery of scalable AWS infrastructure solutions, and migration of existing on-prem solutions to AWS, while evolving our AWS capabilities through automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).

 

This role can be remote or hybrid based in our Niles, IL location. 

Responsibilities

  • Plans, architects, implements and supports the AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Builds, releases, and manages the configuration of AWS services and resources
  • Identifies, develops, and delivers automation that eliminates repetitive tasks in deployment and operations
  • Establishes process and standards for managing AWS infrastructure
  • Implements and manages CI/CD pipelines in support of infrastructure deployments
  • Works with the engineering, development, and business teams to deliver scalable AWS services
  • Ensures necessary system security by using best in class cloud security solutions and practices
  • Documents solution architectures and processes of implemented solutions
  • Ensures security of deployed services and resources in accordance with Company security policies and best practices in cloud security
  • Stays current with new technology for evaluation of use within the company
  • Recommends, drives and supports architecture processes and improvements
  • Troubleshoots and solves AWS service and infrastructure-based issues
  • Creates Proof of Concepts, manages pilot implementations, and educates other teams on AWS solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with AWS cloud technologies
  • Experience working in a multi-account AWS architecture with centralized infrastructure and security operations
  • Experience designing and building cloud-native applications and infrastructure in AWS, including AWS services for computer, networking, database, management, and security
  • Solid background in Linux/Unix and Windows server system administration
  • Experience building and managing containerized solutions such as AWS ECS or EKS (Kubernetes)
  • Experience building custom dashboards within AWS for monitoring and metrics
  • Experience with AWS services to support monitoring and operations, such as Config, Cloudwatch, Systems Manager, Service Catalog, Prometheus, ELK stack and Trusted Advisor
  • Experience using DevOps tools in a cloud environment such as Ansible, Artifactory, GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, or Azure Devops
  • Experience writing IaC using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Proficiency in script development and scripting languages (i.e. Python, JSON, YAML, Powershell)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and focus
  • Understanding of industry best practices for cloud infrastructure and security
