In your role as Senior Engineer, Cloud (AWS), you will participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based systems balancing security with business-enabling capabilities. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing cloud solutions, migrating existing on-premise applications to cloud through Infrastructure as a code using Devops tools, debug, monitor and optimize cloud-based initiatives.

 

This role can be remote or hybrid based in our Niles, IL location. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with engineering, product development and marketing teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
  • Designs and deploys, in an agile environment, assets and code that will help deploy, test, monitor and maintain components and services for our service platforms.
  • Creates Proof Of Concepts, Pilot Implementations and educates other teams on new AWS services.
  • Establishes standards and repeatable processes for managing change across environments, taking advantage of innovative cloud technologies, DevOps tools and practices.
  • Builds tools and automation that eliminate repetitive tasks in Infrastructure deployments.
  • Applies knowledge of various programming/scripting languages, supports best practices and configuration management to support and maintain services.
  • Designs and implements containerized solutions (ECS, Kubernetes) in AWS Cloud.
  • Ensures efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with Company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
  • Regularly reviews existing systems and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Develops and documents programs, scripts, and standard operating procedures pertaining to implemented solutions.
  • Interacts with clients, providing cloud support, and making recommendations based on client needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of technical experience with AWS cloud technologies.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with automation using Infrastructure as a Code (E.g. CDK - Python, CloudFormation, Terraform)
  • Experience with Devops Tools (Jenkins, Code Pipeline)
  • Experience with Issue and Project Tracking tools (JIRA, Azure Devops)
  • Advanced scripting experience (e.g. Python, Powershell)
  • Automating AWS Solutions using Python and Boto3 CDK
  • Building Custom Dashboards within AWS using AWS Lambda (Python)
  • Writing Custom Configuration Rules Using AWS RDK (AWS Config)
  • Experience with troubleshooting applications using monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, Cloud Watch) built in ruby, php and go.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment.
  • Ensuring all designs, solutions, reported malfunctions, frequently faced issues are documented in Atlassian Confluence.
  • Experience with release, change and configuration management.
  • Demonstrated experience with the design, implementation and support of Amazon Web Services and hybrid cloud solutions across multiple global regions.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the establishment of company policies, operational objectives, and work plans that affect immediate operations.
  • Excellent communication, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and focus.
  • Has a full understanding of industry best practices, technology trends and company policies and procedures.
  • Able to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data or situations requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions for difficult assignments and of diverse scope.
