Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate students that have completed at least 2 years of college, as well as graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.


The Product Validation and Reliability Engineering Intern will create and conduct electrical and mechanical validation tests on Shure and competitive products. The Intern will get the opportunity to write test procedures and test plans, document tests results, conduct root cause analysis on failures, and work with product teams on solutions to problems.

This Internship is Onsite or Hybrid (1-2 days remote).


  • Conduct electrical and mechanical product validation and evaluation tests on Shure and competitive product prototypes and production samples.
  • Operate laboratory test equipment and audio sound system equipment to emulate field venues within the laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate with product teams to write test plans and document results in a database.
  • Update and create new test procedures.
  • Analyze test results for root cause and pattern analysis.
  • Maintain the laboratory equipment inventory and scheduling with product teams.
  • Conduct physical prototyping, physical assembly, and disassembly of products.
  • Automate test data collection using Python and LabVIEW
  • Create custom fixturing for tests using CAD skills, rapid prototyping, and machining


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • General working knowledge of NX or similar CAD software a plusFamiliarity with programming including Python and LabView
  • Interest in mechanical, electrical, or audio system debugging
  • Able to complete tasks in creative and effective ways, when necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
