Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate students that have completed at least 2 years of college, as well as graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.


The DSP MCA Intern will assist with the development of next-generation intelligent audio products tailored for the content creator, the wireless listener, and the conference participant. Activities will include modeling, developing, and/or evaluating digital audio processing algorithms for wireless headphones as well as an ecosystem of USB and wireless microphones.

This Internship can be Remote, Onsite or Hybrid.


  • Simulate algorithms using Matlab and other prototyping tools; perform objective audio testing; conduct subjective listening validation tests; collect and evaluate algorithm performance data
  • Translate real time audio signal processing algorithms from simulation model (e.g., Matlab) to fixed- or floating- point DSPs and/or ARM based MCUs in C/C++
  • Optimize and test algorithm operation to meet product constraints (MIPS, memory) and requirements (latency, fidelity)
  • Collaborate with members of larger cross-functional development team including acoustics, digital/RF hardware, mechanical, systems, and product management
  • Work with technical mentor to estimate, organize, and plan work tasks
  • Present personal contributions to product development and executive management


  • In pursuit of a BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or audio related major with an emphasis in Digital Signal Processing
  • Coursework and/or experience with real-time programming languages such as C/C++ and simulation languages such as Matlab, and NumPy/SciPy
  • Coursework and/or experience in software development on an ARM and/or DSP processing platform
  • Coursework and/or experience with software development tools such as Integrated Development Environments, compilers/linkers, and debugging tools (emulator, profiler, etc.)
  • Understanding of both floating point and fixed-point platform development
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, audio analyzers, and digital multi-meters
