Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate students that have completed at least 2 years of college, as well as graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.


The Commodity Management Intern will work under a group of Commodity Managers within the Supply Chain department. The intern will assist in market research, supplier evaluation, system/database creation, cost modeling, and project implementation activities. This role would work closely with commodity management, tactical purchasing, manufacturing, supplier quality, engineering, as well as external suppliers.


This Internship is 100% Hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Gather pricing trend and specification data for electronic components in order to create cost models
  • Propose electronic component cost saving opportunities based on pricing mismatches or potential negotiation opportunities
  • Develop parameter and business opportunity-based cost model for Printed Circuit Board Assemblies manufactured by external suppliers
  • Create business cases for cost reduction projects
  • Create market reports on select electronic component types to mitigate supply risk
  • Develop system to track Engineering Change Requests available to both engineering and operations
  • Improve existing Printed Circuit Board Assembly electronic component shortage calculation and reporting process
  • Perform new potential supplier and initiate new supplier engagements

Qualifications

  • Certain level of coursework in Supply Chain/Operations, Business, Project Management, or technical related field
  • Background in Electronics a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects and priorities
  • Ability to work across various departments in a cooperative manner with people of varying technical backgrounds
  • Data analysis capability, including Excel and/or other data reporting software
  • Microsoft Office experience
