Overview

SUMMER 2023


Shure offers a challenging, fun and rewarding summer internship program. The twelve-week program is offered to undergraduate students that have completed at least 2 years of college, as well as graduate students. We offer internships with a variety of work arrangements from onsite interns to fully remote in US. Each intern will receive a competitive salary. Additionally, Interns who relocate to Illinois for onsite internships will receive a housing stipend to cover living expenses. Applications will be collected, reviewed, and selected candidates will be contacted in late fall/early winter.

 

The Corporate Archives Intern will report to the Manager of the Corporate Library and Archives. This position will be full time (40 hours per week) and based out of the Niles Corporate Headquarters. Preference is for 100% on site but will consider 3 days on site and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing growth and promotion of digital assets for both Corporate Archives and Corporate Photography using Widen Collective
  • Migration of archival content to new content management system
  • Creation of internal digital exhibits
  • Processing and cataloging collection backlog

Other projects may include:

  • Rehousing and reshelving collection materials
  • Processing ongoing donations
  • Assisting with ongoing Corporate Photography projects

Qualifications

  • Interns must be enrolled in a graduate degree program and have completed graduate course work in archival, library, or information management, and/or graduate course work in Museum Studies, Public History, or another related discipline.
  • Familiarity with audio technology and history preferred, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of archival arrangement and description
  • Familiarity with a DSLR camera
  • Skilled with computers and databases, including some experience with Photoshop or Lightroom
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
