To support our Software Development team we are looking for a


Embedded Software Developer


As Embedded Software Developer you will design, implement, test and integrate real time, multitasking embedded firmware for wireless audio products. In addition, this role mentors lower-level engineers. This role can be based in Edinburgh (UK).



  • Analysis of industry-standard digital wireless communications protocols (e.g. DECT / WiFi) for potential use on Wireless products
  • Development of industry standard digital wireless communications stacks (e.g. DECT / WiFi) for Wireless products and technologies
  • Driver development (e.g. I2C, SPI, UARTs, LCDs, timers) on target hardware
  • Develop products using SAFe methodology and associated best practices
  • Leads cross-functional development team to design and implement cutting edge audio products and technologies
  • Estimates, organizes and documents tasks
  • Practices established software development methodologies and principles focusing on, reusability, maintainability, minimized complexity, high cohesion and low coupling
  • SW quality enthusiast who reviews the design and code developed by peer engineers within the team
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Electrical Engineering. MSc degree preferred as well as minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Possess expert knowledge of embedded firmware development using C programming language, C++ would be desirable
  • Must understand the critical real time aspects of embedded programming and bring good understanding of real time kernels
  • Must understand driver datasheets and how to use debugging tools such as logic analysers, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers
  • Ability to understand wireless standards documents is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability of working on significant and unique issues such as the application of key software design principles including separation of concerns, high cohesion and low coupling to facilitate reuse and maintainability in software architectures, where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
  • Ability to decompose large, complex software systems into manageable subsystems with clearly defined interfaces
  • Exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Hardware knowledge is desirable, specifically the ability to review schematic diagrams and to understand target board layout so that specific signals can be identified and tested
  • Experience with software version control and release procedures
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment
