Overview

We are looking for a tax expert to help with the US tax function for our business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with broad US tax experience to join some of the brightest and hungriest minds in the business. 

 

Shure is looking for a Tax Manager to join our Finance team located in Niles, IL.  The Tax Manager will have overall responsibility for U.S. federal and state tax including tax compliance, financial reporting for tax (ASC 740), tax planning and controversies. We’re also open to hiring a tax senior with the right qualifications and experience to fill this role. This position can be hybrid from the chicagoland area or remote across the US. 

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of U.S. federal and state tax income compliance including preparation and/or review of book-tax adjustments, tax methods, tax fixed assets, state apportionment and modifications, estimated payments, extensions, and information reporting
  • Manages all aspects of U.S. federal and state R&D tax credit reporting, including procedures and processes, substantiating documentation, assessing qualification, and collaborating with product development and R&D credit service provider
  • Conducts U.S. federal and state tax research documenting conclusions reached
  • Manages all aspects of the U.S. federal and state tax provision applying US GAAP concepts, including the quarterly AETR, annual financial statements, and current and deferred taxes payable
  • Manages U.S. federal and state controversies, including exams, replying to IDRs and notices  
  • Manages the tax aspects of corporate projects and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, with an emphasis on U.S. federal and multi-state taxation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Understands and applies existing tax laws to ensure accurate reporting and stays up-to-date with pending tax legislation to inform on potential negative tax impacts and planning opportunities
  • Exemplifies excellence in performance with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and development, providing top notch deliverables and streamlining processes
  • Works independently and cross-functionally within Finance and the organization more broadly to provide support and ensure objectives are met
  • Identifies and communicates gaps but more importantly brings forth solutions to problems in an organized and understandable manner
  • Sees the big-picture, yet detailed-oriented, and applies a hands-on approach as needed
  • Strong technology skills including MS office, data wrangling, SAP or other ERP system experience preferred
