Under direct supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant I performs a variety of accounting and accounts payable duties of more than ordinary difficulty and complexity working closely with the Purchasing Department to accurately pay vendors on time according to company policies and procedures. The Accountant I is also responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and in preparing basic financial reports.


  • Processes vendor invoices, matches payment documents, and files final documents.
  • Maintains master data records such as address updates and w-9s as applicable.
  • Coordinates and resolves disputes and/or discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records for area assigned.
  • Keeps GRIR and Associate Balances cleared and up to date.
  • Maintains departmental guidelines/instructions, job aids, and written procedures.
  • Assist other Accounts Payable Associates.
  • Analyzes monthly accruals and prepares journal entries for month-end close.
  • Prepares year-end journal entries, account reconciliations, schedules, and provides assistance to external auditors on annual year-end audit.
  • May be involved in reviewing, tracking and maintaining information in the financial systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and other accounting regulations.
  • May assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls to meet audit standards and improve efficiency.
  • Provides assistance to other departments as needed for financial accounting issues
  • Oversees the completion of projects including planning, assigning, monitoring, reviewing progress and accuracy of work, including evaluation of results and recommendations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, CPA preferred
  • Entry level to 2 years of experience working on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
  • Ability to learn and apply company policies and procedures to assigned tasks
  • Ability to follow established procedures on routine work; requiring detailed instructions only on new assignments
  • Ability to work independently, receiving little instruction on daily work, but receiving general instructions on newly introduced assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Excel, SAP experience a plus
  • Detailed oriented, team player with excellent customer service skills
  • Proven time management skills; extremely well-organized
  • Basic knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
